The legendary actor of Bollywood Shammi Kapoor is no more. He took his last breath at 5:15 in the morning at candy hospital in Mumbai city. For the past few years the actor is suffering from chronic renal failure and was on dialysis. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on Saturday.
Shammi Kapoor’s first film was ‘Thokar’ released in the year 1953 which has Shyama as the female lead. He became heartthrob of many for his extraordinary dance. He was titled as ‘Elvis Presley of India’. He did films like ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Teesri Manzil’ at age of 60.
He has got the credit that he is the first person to get place in the internet with his own website. He is also known for his simplicity and remained as a gentleman.
Shammi also directed couple of films ‘Bundalbazz’ and ‘Manoranjan’ which has Rajesh Khanna and Sanjeev Kumar as the leads.
On to his personnel life he married actress Geeta Bali. He got married again with Neela Devi after death of his first wife. He has a son (Aditya Raj) and daughter (Kanchan Desai).
He was being awarded by the Filmfare as Best Actor for the film ‘Brahmachari’ in 1968 and also got best Best Supporting Actor for ‘Vidhaata’ in 1982 for the same.
His death is big loss to the Bollywood. Many are praying to God that his soul will rest in peace.
